US RAiD

US RAiD

Research Activity Identifier for Research Projects

RAiD (Research Activity Identifier) is a new digital persistent identifier specifically for research projects and activities, developed by the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). In the same way that ORCID iDs provide unique, digital persistent identifiers and corresponding research activity metadata for individual researchers, RAiD provides unique, digital persistent identifiers with corresponding metadata for research projects.

The US RAiD Pilot in as NSF-funded initiative to bring RAiD services and infrastructure to the United States. This initiative is led by the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), part of the University of California (UC) San Diego, in partnership with Lyrasis, a nonprofit organization serving libraries, archives, museums and related knowledge communities. The goal of the two-year pilot is to establish RAiD technical infrastructure, work with interested organizations to pilot the RAiD service and determine a sustainable business model for US organizations interested in using RAiD beyond the pilot/grant period.
