About the event

Overall Aim: Provide new insights into the ways that knowledge and data are organized and semantically represented in biomedical research.

 

Who should attend: This interactive workshop series welcomes semantics beginners and experienced adopters. The workshop is especially designed for people who will put this information into practice in their research or labs, and stewards who will share and apply the knowledge amongst the people they serve.

This workshop series spans two weeks, consisting of four 2-hour sessions.

No registration fee. Apply by March 7, 2025.

Workshop Overview

Goals:

1. Become familiar with shared semantic resources, such as commonly used terms for data description and organization. 

2. Understand models for shared governance and community agreed-upon semantic resources and how to apply them to different situations. 

3. Understand and apply technical approaches for establishing and maintaining resources such as controlled vocabularies, and making them more FAIR.

Outline: 

This workshop series spans two weeks, consisting of four 2-hour sessions. 

1. Knowledge Organization Systems 

2. Socio-technical Change Management 

3. Semantic Resource Development 

4. Putting it all together
